Srirangapatna and Mysore beckon

This blog post is cross posted here at Wayfarers and Pathfinders.

Come December and I headed to Srirangapatna and Mysore with my aunt. A hot day packed with too much to see wasn’t one of the nicest of travel experiences during the peak holiday season. Nevertheless, an experience in itself!  A few pictures from this visit:

Sri Ranganatha Swamy temple, Srirangapatna
The Water Gate, Srirangapatna
Tipu Sultan's body was found here, Srirangapatna
Colonel Bailey's Dungeon, Srirangapatna
Mysore Palace
Nandi, Mysore
Chamundeshwari temple, Mysore
St.Philomena's Church, Mysore
Brindavan Gardens, Mysore

  1. The opulence of the Mysore Palace is awesome. The Raja Ravi Verma paintings should not be missed. There is one famous painting of a lady holding a lamp admist darkness round her. The painting is hung in a dark corner and the beauty and the technique of the painting is such that the lamp seems to glow and lighten the area around it. Simply swesome !

  2. I always knew tht there was more to Mysore thn the Mysore Pak (n my ex-roomie’s ex-girlfriend :)). Though I never could make it to Mysore ever. We went to Coorg and we did drop into Mysore but so late that we cudnt make it to the Palace (the King sleeps at 630?..:P) n we gt stuck in the traffic jam 2 Brindavans garden… one day, hopefully will see Mysore..till then, I’ll complement ur amazin pics here:)
